Rohit Sharma-led India continued the imperious form and beat New Zealand by 44 runs in the final group stage encounter of the ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai. The outcome helped India finish top of Group A and set a semi-final date with Australia. Varun Chakaravarthy, playing his first match of the tournament, emerged as the standout player from the Indian camp. The mystery spinner claimed five wickets as India bundled out New Zealand for 205 in 45.3 overs after piling 249/9 on the board. Earlier, a star-studded batting line-up struggled to get going after being invited to bat first. India lost their top 3 - Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli - cheaply inside the first powerplay. Gill was dismissed for 2(7), Rohit for 15 off 17, while Kohli's stay in the middle was cut short on 11(14) after an incredible catch by Glenn Phillips.
