Delhi LG Approves Regularization of 150 Private Schools in Unauthorized Colonies
Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has approved the regularization of 150 private, unaided schools in Delhi's unauthorized colonies, benefiting thousands of students, particularly those from economically weaker sections. This decision, announced on January 6, 2025, addresses long-standing challenges faced by these schools, which have operated without legal recognition since before 2006.

The move allows these schools to operate legally, contingent on meeting specific safety standards, and enables students to take board exams at their own schools. These schools, primarily located in areas like Narela, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Colony, Najafgarh, and Sangam Vihar, cater to economically weaker sections. They have faced numerous difficulties due to their unofficial status within these unauthorized colonies. The regularization offers a solution to hardships endured for over a decade. The decision followed discussions during LG Saxena's Samvaad@RajNiwas meeting with school principals and teachers on December 20, 2024. Educators highlighted the urgent need to resolve the issues surrounding the schools' unrecognized status.
